Howdy fellow fire fiends!! DFW Burner here. My partner in crime, Button, and I are so extremely excited to be headed to your area to attend IF. It was looking like we were going to have to miss it this year because of a combination of work (eek!) obligations and the drive time. It didn't take us much time to say "screw that"!! So then we dug around and found some dirt cheap airfares from Dallas to KC. Problem solved, right? Well- we have one big obsticle to overcome---We have no ride from the airport to the event.
Is there anyone leaving KC on friday evening??? We have some midwest burner buds up there but they are all going to be there early to help set up the event. Please someone help!!! We guarantee to help with travel expenses... JUST SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!

Thu, April 24, 2008 - 9:57 AMHey kids, im in the same boat. MY flight gets in around 5 on the same day, a ride would be definitely be appreciated and compensated. well, not for the time, thats hard to give back.

Re: Texas burners seeking ride to IF from airport
Thu, April 24, 2008 - 12:11 PMAs someone said in another post, there is a shuttle that will bring you from MCI to Columbia. Heck, they could probably even drop you off at that gas station off of exit 111 that is the exit that you take to get to Ozark Avalon. If you can get that far, then maybe someone could be begged to pick you up on the way to OA, or if an in/out exception could be made a sober person could pick you up when you get there. Now, KC airport is about 1.5 - 2 hours away...So plan accordingly with regards to timing.
have y'all hit the yahoo! group? That place is hopping right now, and you may have more luck getting a ride. -

Re: Texas burners seeking ride to IF from airport
Thu, April 24, 2008 - 12:15 PMThe shuttle is called MoX. They are great.
www.moexpress.com/tac/default.aspx
It looks like their drop off in Boonville is the Micky Dees.
Since there is a no pass out policy at IF though, I'm not sure how they'll get from Boonville to OA. -

Re: Texas burners seeking ride to IF from airport
Thu, April 24, 2008 - 7:23 PMDistract-Sean and Button are good, good people!!! I'm so excited they are coming to Interfuse, they will make fine additions to the mix.
I'll keep my fingers crossed these two get there safely, and by MIDNIGHT Friday, as the gate closes then.
Hmm, Distract-Sean, you and Button had thought of renting a car, at worst case maybe you two could rent one with Matt, also in the same situation?
Might also cross post this ride request in the Interfuse tribe:

Fri, April 25, 2008 - 7:19 AMwww.moexpress.com/tac/default.aspx
Its a shuttle service, from *FD* earliers post.
I can't say for certain but their services cost around 80 bucks (but that was back in 2000. I dunno about now)
Soory, MOX is not a burner, but a business. Did not mean to get your hopes up. -

Re: Texas burners seeking ride to IF from airport
Fri, April 25, 2008 - 7:40 AMFrom KCI to Boonville one way: $44. -
-
Re: Texas burners seeking ride to IF from airport
Fri, April 25, 2008 - 1:33 PMThe bus leaves at 7:50 and arrives at 10:10. then its time to hoof it, or hitch it with some REALLY latecomers. It's cutting it pretty close, but I think as a 2nd to last resort, its not a bad option.
and as said above, $44. -

Re: Texas burners seeking ride to IF from airport

Re: Texas burners seeking ride to IF from airport
Fri, April 25, 2008 - 2:02 PMIt looks like its only like 2 miles from exit 111 to the gate. if google maps idea of where the gate is is accurate (highly unlikely) but still a positive thought. thats not far at all! -

Re: Texas burners seeking ride to IF from airport
Fri, April 25, 2008 - 3:16 PMit may be 2 miles til exit 111..but then another mile or 2 to the gate...

Re: Texas burners seeking ride to IF from airport
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 8:38 AMThank you everyone for all your help. We have now secured transport to the event from the airport. A very kind soul is leaving us a car to use at the airport. Wow, i'm digging this warm hospitality!! What a great community---Button and I can't wait to have a magical weekend with ya'll.
See you soon!!!

Re: Texas burners seeking ride to IF from airport
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 8:42 AMThank you thank you kind MW burners helping us with transportation. I can't wait to burn in Missouri ;-)
Come find me at Camp Milk N Cookies ...
Oh, am I allowed to bring my Bullhorn?
And where do I register all of my technical and sound equipment?
(geesh, sorry - still in the COLD.Agent Flipside mindset ...) -
-
Re: Texas burners seeking ride to IF from airport
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 12:36 PMWhat kind of burn is there without bullhorns???
Not sure what you mean by tech/sound equipment? I am assuming not a giant sound system since you are flying in , but never know! Sound camps are the only ones that need registration/placement.
Heard lots of great things about your southerners and always been impressed with the ones I met and have camped with at the big burn! I love milk n cookies too. -

Re: Texas burners seeking ride to IF from airport
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 4:28 PMThat was a shameless sideswipe .... excuse me and Anji slap my hand! (She knows Button can get out of control, but Anji's got answers, as I'm sure you Interfusians know!)
The only sound camp I need to register is my loud and often foot filled mouth .... -
-
Re: Texas burners seeking ride to IF from airport
Tue, April 29, 2008 - 9:58 AMHuh? Me? Oh yes, the provider of answers, of course I am! However, knowing what I'm to reprimand Button for *this time* eludes even me!
:o)
Looking forward to my red headed sister and her fine fella getting here safely. See you soooOOOOooon!
