Would anyone want to help gather signatures before, and even during, Interfuse? A friend of mine is managing a project to put an initiative on the Missouri ballot this November:
It will require that Missouri get 15% of its electricity from clean sources, like solar and wind, by the year 2020. It's called a "Renewable Electricity Standard". 25 other states already have this policy, but Missouri sure doesn't, and the long and short of it is, that's why not much is happening in the way of renewable energy in Missouri.
After it passes, it will create the market for 4100MW of wind power (~2,000 gigantic wind turbines) and 200MW of solar
We have until May 4th to finish collecting 150,000 signatures from registered Missouri voters. Today we're at ~95,000 signatures collected, and we're at $340,000 of the necessary $500,000 fundraised to put this puppy on the ballot.
Can you chip in $50-$500 to help us get over the finish line? The money will go to support Renew Missouri, the nonprofit which I'm now the Executive Director of, in its effort to get this RES on the ballot.
Our polling shows that 2/3 of Missourians will vote "yes" for this, given the opportunity, so we're all about giving the opportunity.
Ready? Go to www.RenewMO.org, and click on "contribute".
30,000 signatures are coming from volunteers, and 120,000 are coming from paid ($10/hr) signature gatherers, and you can track the volunteer progress on volunteer.renewmo.org.
Thanks for your help today!
